Paid Time Off (PTO) Policy
Accrual and Eligibility
All full-time employees begin accruing PTO from their first day of employment. PTO accrual rates are based on years of service:
- 0 to 2 years: 15 days per year (1.25 days per month)
- 3 to 5 years: 20 days per year (1.67 days per month)
- 6 to 10 years: 25 days per year (2.08 days per month)
- 10+ years: 30 days per year (2.50 days per month)
Part-time employees accrue PTO on a prorated basis according to their scheduled hours. PTO begins accruing immediately but cannot be used during the first 90 days of employment.
Requesting Time Off
PTO requests should be submitted through the HR portal at least two weeks in advance for planned absences. Requests of five or more consecutive days require manager approval at least 30 days in advance. Emergency or unplanned PTO should be reported to your direct manager before the start of your shift.
Carryover and Payout
Employees may carry over up to 5 unused PTO days into the following calendar year. Any PTO balance exceeding the carryover limit will be forfeited on January 1st. Upon termination, employees will be paid out for accrued but unused PTO up to a maximum of 10 days.
Sick Leave
In addition to PTO, all employees receive 10 paid sick days per year. Sick leave does not accrue or carry over. If you are absent due to illness for more than three consecutive days, you may be required to provide a medical note upon return. Sick leave may be used for personal illness, medical appointments, or caring for an immediate family member.
Company Holidays
The company observes the following paid holidays each year: New Year's Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve. When a holiday falls on a weekend, the company will designate the nearest weekday as the observed holiday.
Parental Leave
New parents are eligible for up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave following the birth or adoption of a child. This applies to all parents regardless of gender. Parental leave must be taken within 12 months of the child's birth or adoption date. Employees must have been employed for at least one year to qualify.

Guidelines for remote, hybrid, and international work arrangements.
Remote Work Policy
Eligibility and Approval
All full-time employees who have completed their 90-day probationary period are eligible for remote work. Remote work arrangements must be approved by your direct manager. The company supports three remote work models:
Hybrid: Work from the office 2-3 days per week and remotely the remaining days. This is the default arrangement for most roles.
Fully Remote: Work from home full-time. Available for roles that do not require regular in-person collaboration. Requires VP-level approval.
Temporary Remote: Work remotely for a defined period (up to 4 weeks) due to personal circumstances, relocation transition, or travel. Requires manager approval.
Working Hours and Availability
Remote employees are expected to maintain core hours of 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM in their local time zone. Outside core hours, employees may flex their schedule with manager approval. You must be reachable via Slack and email during core hours and respond to messages within one hour.
Domestic Travel
Employees may work from anywhere within the United States without additional approval. If working from a different time zone for more than one week, notify your manager in advance.
International Remote Work
Working from outside the United States requires HR approval at least 30 days in advance due to tax and legal implications. International remote work is limited to 30 calendar days per year. Employees are responsible for ensuring reliable internet access and compliance with local visa requirements. The company cannot support remote work from countries under U.S. sanctions.
Equipment and Workspace
The company provides a laptop, monitor, keyboard, and mouse for all remote employees. A one-time $500 home office stipend is available for ergonomic furniture or equipment. Employees are responsible for maintaining a reliable internet connection with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. IT support is available via helpdesk@meridiantech.com or extension 2200.
Security Requirements
Remote employees must use the company VPN when accessing internal systems. Work devices must have full-disk encryption enabled. Confidential work should not be performed on public Wi-Fi without VPN. Lock your screen whenever you step away from your device.
